Article about "Boycott Open", the latest fad
- July 23 2004
(11:15 PST) |
Site
News |
This latest nonsense, and the idiots who drive it forward, have brought
me back to the site once again. After a long dry spell of no
idiots to complain about, I finally have a group who are "Boycotting"
the Open server.
So, I wrote an article about it. At
first it was going to be a rant, but it turned into a paper about the lifecycle of the Wulfram II community.

No more updates coming - July 13 2004
(12:25 PST) |
Site
News |
Well, I probably won't be making any updates to this website
anymore. I WILL still be participating at Wulfram Wired, posting new
bits that other reporters happen to miss. Otherwise, since I just
don't play at all anymore I don't see any reason to do this site.
The drive I felt before, I no longer feel.
Wulfram II just isn't the game for me anymore.
I've returned to the land of MMORPGs and you might find me in either
Asheron's Call 2 or even City of Heroes. Or some other MMORPG!

Hmm... - June 13 2004 (12:03 PST)
|
Site
News |
Been a while since any updates. Not much to talk about since
Slurpy is out on his wedding and I've done most of my rants about the
idiots of Wulfram II.
Rather than playing Wulfram II I've been busy
with school, and the end of the term is approaching. My free time
has gone from Wulfram II to City of Heroes, being a MMORPG type of
guy. Most folks won't like the game if they're into Wulfram II or
other First Person Shooters, but it IS more of a casual MMORPG than any
others.
If you play, hop on the Pinnacle Server
sometime and add "Wes The Mess" to your friend's list. See you
there!

Development Machine Ruined, Replaced by
Players! - April 10 2004 (8:23 PST)
|
|
Slurpy's machine had an unfortunate accident! Quote from the post
by Slurpy...
My trusty development machine blew out
yesterday. Minimal system will
not post with 1 stick of ram, 1 old and trusted VGA card, and CPU. So I
guess I'll be looking for a replacement. Not sure which way I will
go... Totally new system, or just replace cpu/ram/motherboard.
Fortunately, DrDeath had good news.
Slurpy...check your email.
Right now we are looking
at an Athlon64 3000+ w/1gb DDR400...and it's already paid for. Call
me ;)
What a community!
Great job everyone that paid for the machine!

Possible Article about Trainers coming
- April 09 2004 (10:11 PST)
|
Site
News
|
Man, a lot of trainers have acted like complete, blithering idiots
recently. It seems like they've got NO concept of what it means
to be a professional activist. It seems like every week some new
trainer is off in some thread, participating in a thread that is
critical of the administration or MODs... WHEN THEY SHOULD NOT
TOUCH IT WITH A 10 FOOT POLE.
You may not like it, but you lose the privalege of
public opinion when you're a trainer. If you can't figure that
out, quit now. For the sake of the departments.

Slurpy Considers Bringing Back Scores Page
- April 6 2004 (18:15 PST)
|
|
Slurpy is considering bringing the scores page back again, as well as
possibly making it donors-only. He hopes it's return will bolster
the flagging playerbase numbers. Take a look here,
and give him your opinion. THIS IS NOT A NEW IDEAS SUGGESTION
THREAD, NOR IS IT ABOUT THE LEVELS SYSTEM.

April 4th's Dueling Tourney Results, another one on
the way! - April 5 2004 (09:00 PST)
|
|
Weege's dueling tourney went off without much difficulty. I
arrived at 8AM forgetting that the actual tourney started at 9 and that
there was an hour of practice beforehand. Ah well, I made up for
it by taking a nap.
Anyway, the results are in and BigJoe is the
winner and walks away $15(US) richer. JawZ2002 got the $5(US)
prize for 2nd place. Weege has also announced a points system he
is implementing for future tourneys which you can read about here.
A 2 vs 2 (read: 2 fighting 2) tourney will hit
the servers the 17th, read the post for details.

IE Problems resolved, No J. Blow Interview
yet - April 5 2004 (9:00 PST)
|
Site
News
|
Well, it should look okay in IE now. After fiddling with some
<div> tags the graphs on the left should be good too.
As for the e-mail I was looking forward to
this weekend from Mr Blow, it looks like he forgot about me. What
a world!

IE hates SP! - April 3
2004 (10:48 PST)
|
Site
News
|
I've just discovered my website looks terrible in IE while it looks
just fine in Mozilla. That explains why I only get checked
in on by 2 or 3 people every day. Now the hunt for what's wrong
begins. I think, now that I have a definite format down, I ought
to begin writing this page from scratch.
Update: Just figured it out. For some reason the <PRE> tag
is handled totally differently by Mozilla than IE. IE doesn't
seem to wrap text to keep it within the bounds of a table when it is
within the tag, but Mozilla does.

Micah added to "Scumbags" - April 1
2004 (18:12 PST)
|
Site
News
|
Unfortunately, recent behavior by Micah has convinced me to include him
in the Scumbags list. I wish it hadn't come to this, but try as I
might I can't think of reasons not to put his name there. Not
even Reverend_Redeye is on there, so this should say quite a bit.
Nope, this isn't an "April Fools" thing,
either. Wish it was.

Jon Blow Artcile on the way - March 20
2004 (21:21 PST)
|
Articles
|
As a part of an upcoming article on former Wulfram/ShockForce developer
Jonathan Blow, I have tossed a questionaire at him and a request for
answers. Suprisingly, Mr. Blow responded the following day.
Heya, sure, I will answer your questions. I can't do it right this second, but I'll try to do it by the weekend...thanks for the interest!

Pretty cool!

Donation Link, News Section Done -
March 28 2004 (11:05 PST)
|
Site
News
|
So, I figured I'd try toss a "Please Donate" link up on this page for
no reason other than it seems like a good idea. I can just sorta
hope that folks with cash will be willing to give cash to me, who
doesn't have much himself. Heck, folks who donate more than $10
will get their names forever immortalized (meaning, for the year or two
I maintain this page before getting tired of it) on the site...
somewhere. Probably in an article or something... seems like the
best place to smack new stuff.
Now I need to find some bastard to go through
every page I've got and add it to the nav bar, as well as fix the typo
in my legal disclaimers that almost all say "Scou'ts
Perspective". Makes me desire PHP and a knowledge of said
language to generate dynamic content.
Anyway... my news section is now completely
done. Except for a few items. I figure I'll only mess with
the news section every month to archive the previous month's news items.

Wulfram's Domain Problems Gone? - March 24
2004 (20:53 PST)
|
Wulfram
II News
|
It would appear all of the domain troubles are gone for everyone, or
just about. So, if you haven't tried it recently, see if www.wulfram.com works for you!
On a side note: I've been really tempted
to add Micah to the "Scumbag" list but am held back by (quickly
diminishing) feelings of respect and pity for the poor bastard.
He's basically crippled, living in complete and utter agony that is
kept at bay by a prescribed heroine substitute. He deserves pity
more than anything... I can't help but wonder what he'd be like if he
didn't have Wulfram at all. It's unfortunate his medication has
turned him into a bully who is the exact opposite of the gentleman he
used to be. Unfortunate, and quite sad.

News Section Almost Done - March 22
2004 (10:06 PST)
|
Site
News
|
The news section has been fleshed out, now I'm just working on turning
all of those individual news entires into separate pages to
access. I am also reformatting the Nav bar on the left, but
that'll take a while and I'll probably mess a few things up before I'm
done. Probably will have the site completely fixed in 2 weeks.
Just don't forget to e-mail me if you
find problems. It's fairly harmless.

Wulfram Domain Registration Troubles -
March 21 2004 (PST)
|
Wulfram
II News
|
Wulfram II is having problems for the next 24 hours (at most) due to a
mix up with www.wulfram.com's DNS registry. The site is NOT down,
however. You can still use the IP address directly:157.151.95.250 Keep in mind
that this means your cookies for logging in won't work correctly
(they're used for "www.wulfram.com", and not "wulfram.com" or
"157.151.95.250").
Slurpy's exact explanation of the forums is as
follows...
Yes
-- it's an expired domain issue -- their email reminders went into
a wrong email account, and well... I renewed the domain today, but it
might take a day or so for it go through.

Scout Race a Success, and Banner Ad Info
- March 19 2004 (PST))
|
Wulfram
II News
|
Tervuren's Scout Race was a complete success, or so it seems. You
can check out the thread for the results: Forum
Post
Top 3 scorers were as follows, according to the dog himself.
124Points=Phoenix
094Points=Striker
088Points=Xempy
To clarify my concerns about Banner Ads, they
are indeed hidden from donors. If you are a donor and see them,
that's simply because you aren't yet logged in. As a result of
this, it looks like Slurpy will be fixing the long-broken login
cookies. Woot!
